New Features and Enhancements

1. Charts improvements

1.1. Calculated rows & columns

The following improvements are related to displaying user calculated rows and columns in charts. (That is data from custom formulas in inserted rows and columns can now be plotted in charts).

Data added using show source data will be stored and immediately displayed in the chart.

Displaying calculated rows and columns is now the default setting for charts. Plotting of formula driven data can be disabled with the new showCalculatedRowsAndColumns parameter in the Advanced Options.

1.2. Waterfall chart y-axis scaling

With this functionality users can change the scaling of y-axis in waterfall chart. Thanks to this improvement, data can be displayed in a more distinct way, highlighting the differences between the values.

Turning this option on will change the minimum value for the y-axis.

Changes can be made while in Edit Mode using the new parameter in Advanced Options intended for the waterfall chart : "yAxisMinAuto":

2. Views and grid widgets improvements

2.1. DBRW function support

Another improvement available in this version is DBRW function, which uses the same syntax as in Perspectives or PAfE.

Users can include UX placeholder to reference elements.

=DBRW('UX_Demo', 'Retail', 'Budget', '2016', '$<<UX_Demo.Period.Period>>', 'Local', '$<<UX_Demo.Region.Region>>', A1, 'Sales Amount')

The DBRW function allows users to display data from another slice of the same cube or even from another cube alltogether (including from another instance).

2.2. Auto Column Fill for Formulas on Columns

With the improvements in 2021.02 version working with formulas is simpler than before. Thanks to the new feature Apply Auto Column Fill, the formula entered on the first row cell is automatically applied to all elements in rows, including those that are in collapsed consolidations.

For any report developer familiar with Active Reports in Perspectives for Excel or PAfE the Auto Column Fill feature in Apliqo UX tables behaves in the same way.

All the changes need be done in Edit Mode. Otherwise the added columns will not be editable and the formula icon will not appear.

Columns using Auto Column Fill will be marked with thunderbolt icon in the first row.

Note: when using Auto Column Fill for formulas only the formula in first row will be editable and all other cells will be read only.

To undo the changes, choose Remove Auto Column Fill from context menu and the column will reverse to the original data.

Users can turn off automatic Apply Auto Column Fill using the Advanced Options.

With this setting turned off it is still possible to use Apply Auto Column Fill by right clicking the first row cell and choosing it from the context menu.

2.3. Read only for individual rows, columns and cells

This new feature allows users to apply read only condition for the selected rows and columns. It can be done through Advanced Options after enabling Edit Mode.

Apply "readOnly": true under "columnFormat" for selected column or under "rowFormat" for selected row.

2.4. Conditional formatting based on values in other rows or columns

2021.02 version introduces a new way to conditionally format your data.

Use Advanced Options to reference values in other rows or columns based on which formatting will be applied.

Using UX placeholder in "dataColumn" & "dataRow" to reference elements in this case is also possible.

2.5. Set / Override Number format on Rows and Columns

This release includes functionality to add number format to conditional formatting allowing users to specify the number format for individual rows and columns.

As in the previous cases, changes can be made using Advanced Options.

Add "numberFormat":"" under "columnFormat" for selected column or under "rowFormat" for selected row.

3. New navigation settings for TI Processes in wizards

This improvement enables automatic redirect of users to next or previous step in a business workflow after running a TI process.

After process finishes successfully, when the user clicks OK in the confirmation dialog, the user can be automatically redirected to the next step.

When the process fails, the user can be redirected to the previous step.

When there is no confirmation message set for the process, then the confirmation dialog is not displayed and the redirection happens automatically without the user needing to click OK.

4. Attribute creation using Subset Editor

This version offer its users option to create new attributes directly in Subset Editor.

Note: this functionality is available only for users having the required admin security permissions to edit dimensions directly.

After opening Subset Editor and turning on Attribute Edit Mode, users get 3 new options:

  • Create Numeric Attribute
  • Create String Attribute
  • Create Alias Attribute

Improvements made in previous versions already allowed authorized users to edit attribute values. This also applies to any newly created attributes.

5. Minor Improvements

5.1. New Export formats

5.2. New list type: Element + Element Ancestor

Users can now choose Element + Element Ancestor from List Type drop-down.

5.3. Column Grouping

This function ensures that inserted columns will be automatically added to the existing column group.

Users can change it using new parameter "groupNames" available in Advanced Options.

This option also works with grid widgets and stacked dimensions.

Users can now choose to duplicate Popups to other Substeps available in a wizard.

After checking Duplicate into other substeps option user can choose the target sub-step from the drop-down list.
