New Features and Enhancements

1. App Management Improvements

The Apliqo UX 2020.11 release offers users many varied features that will further improve the use of the application. This release continues the effort to make building and editing screens in Apliqo UX as dynamic and WYSIWYG as possible. With the latest improvements in 2020.11 there is now almost no requirement to use the "App Management" component while editing or creating.

The new improvements to the editing experience are:

1.1. Reorder and rename Wizard Steps and Sub-Steps

This feature is available for wizards in edit mode.

  1. Toggle Edit Mode on in the Application Bar
  2. In the Wizard Header click the Edit Wizard Steps icon

The "Edit Wizard Steps" PopUp allows you to:

  • Rename Steps and Sub-Steps
  • Change the order of Steps and Sub-Steps via simple drag & drop
  • Add "info" tooltips

In the dialog the info icon changes from info to info-circle to indicate Steps and Sub-Steps where info text has been added.

Note: When not in edit mode, the info icon appears only for the Steps and Sub-Steps where the tooltip info text is available.

The info text tooltips also support html markup. So if you want to make your tooltip text "pop" with bold text, different font color, bullet points, etc. then this is possible.

  • Change icons and colors of Sub-Steps

You can now use the icon search box to find the right icon.

Before making any changes, there is an option to review them. The apply button shows the number of adjustments made in real time. After clicking it, details can be displayed. The clear button will reverse all changes and revert back to the published state.

After clicking the Save button the wizard refreshes and all changes are immediately visible.

1.2. Navigation Bar Configuration

Thanks to the previously described new functionality for renaming and selecting icons for Wizard Sub-Steps, these improvements also apply to all screens available via the Navigation Bar. After switching to edit mode, the “Edit Navigation” button appears in the Navigation Bar.

Users can rename and reorder elements in the Navigation Bar. Adding icons is also possible, just like for wizards.

Click Apply & Save and all the changes will be applied.

1.3. Titles and Info Configuration

Users are now able to adjust titles and info directly from the page itself. Thanks to this improvement, making changes is possible as soon as the edit mode is turned on without using the "App Management" component.

This change applies to Dashboards, Views as well as Wizard page titles.

  • Title Text

In Edit Mode just click on any page or widget title text and the field will take focus and become editable, allowing you to easily change it.

  • Info Text

Click on the Info icon, wait for the popup to appear and add text. Confirm the changes with Save button.

The info text tooltips also support html markup. So if you want to make your tooltip text "pop" with bold text, different font color, bullet points, etc. then this is possible.

2. Visual Widget Type Selection

This new feature allows quick and easy widget type selection accessible from the widget header. Changes are applied in real-time.

Use the slider to switch between normal and stacked versions of column and bar charts.

A small revision/improvement also applies also to the cube settings dialog, which also uses the new widget selection component.

3. Filter Bar Navigation Buttons

A new feature allows users to add editable Navigation Buttons in the Filter Bar of the application.

The button styles can be changed using html.

4. Navigation Widget

The Navigation Widget was created to enable simpler user-oriented navigation and to make building applications with complex branching workflows easier.

The new widget allows the report designer to create a personalized navigation list (which can be hierarchy aware, e.g. display children of the selected folder). The appearance and behaviour of the navigation links within the widget can be further adjusted using new advanced options (e.g. font and background color).

The navigation widget below consists of buttons linked to chosen pages in application. After quick configuration it is ready for use.

You can use the Subset Editor to select elements (i.e. screens) which you want to include in the widget.

If a folder has been added to a Navigation widget, users will be redirected to the first screen of the folder. (This is the same behaviour as clicking on a folder in the Navigation Bar).

5. Any screen can now be set as Homepage

Improvements in this version include extension of the existing functionality to allow users to set Views & Wizards as the Homepage. (Previously only Dashboards could be set as the Homepage).

6. New spreading options

Improvements in 2020.11 make configuring spreading easier and allow more of the spreading and holding functionality supported by the TM1 server engine to be used in Apliqo UX applications.

To enable spreading as a data input mechanism, open the Cube Settings dialog and toggle the "Spreading" option on. Then all the user needs to do is right-click on any cell in the widget to gain access to the spreading menu.

Holds are now also supported while using spreading:

  • You can input "HC" (Hold Consolidation) in a cell to exclude the value from changing while spreading other values.
  • Input "RC" (Release Consolidation) in a cell you want to release from a hold.
  • Input "RA" (Release All) in any cell to release all the holds in the table.
