New Features and Enhancements
1. Individual filters on each column with advanced TOP X options.
On UX 2.5 on each view / grid widget, end users now have an option to filter the table by each individual column.
1.1. Filter by simple mathematical expressions
- you can filter by simple mathematical expressions like greater than, smaller than, etc.
- you can filter on multiple columns at the same time. (create filter condition on 1st column, then create filter condition on 2nd column, etc.)
- there are dedicated filters for text like begin with / ends with.
Note: Power users can save any filter condition/s as default state per view / grid widget , which will be shown to all end users as a starting point.
1.2. TopX & BottomX Filtering
The filters options mentioned on 1.1 can only filter the data currently displayed on the table.
In addition , we added a TopX filter options , which allows querying TM1 with complex calculation like :
- Top X or Botton X from the entire dimension (not restricted to elements currently displayed)
- Top X or Bottom X categories (by selecting elements from a certain level in the hierarchy )
- Top X%
Note: Power users can use the TopX and store them as default state per view / grid widget, to allow creation of reports such as Top 10 sold products / Top 20 % of marketing projects, etc.
2. Ability to add rows and columns and use excel like formulas.
So far Apliqo UX has been limited to show only data coming from TM1.
On 2.5 , you can now add additional rows and columns and create on the fly calculations.
Arithmetic operations such as: +, -, /, *, %, ^
- Relative and absolute cell coordinates like A1, $A1, A$1, $A$1
- Excel standard formulas like Sum / Avg / Count
- You can apply custom style to additional rows & Columns and even a variance chart style
3. App Management improvements
3.1. Edit Mode
UX 2.5 allows modifying published reports and creating new reports, without a fear of breaking anything in the process as changes are not comitted immediatelly to the app objects, but are saved in a temporary object until published.
Every change you'll make to one of the current settings (widget type / layout, data source configuration / advanced options), or creating and deleting content (create / delete a widget / pop-up / sub-view) will result in 2 new buttons on the top of the screen.
The 'Save' & 'Discard' buttons, allow you to decide at any point whether to publish the changes to all end users, or discard all changes and revert back to the original settings.
Note: that until changes are committed via the 'Save' button the changes (including object additions and deletions) will be visible only in Edit Mode.
3.2. Wizard improvements
Building a wizard in 2.5 is now much easier than before.
You can now create & delete wizard steps and sub-steps directly from the wizard without having to navigate to App Management.
In addition, while editing / modifying the current step you are on, the changes will immediately be reflected on the screen without the need to refresh the wizard and start from step 1.
Note: Another small enhancement - when creating a new dashboard / view / wizard , you will be automatically directed to the newly created item.
4. Drill on charts
Apliqo UX 2.5 allows better and quicker analysis options with the ability to drill on charts.
UX will automatically identify consolidated elements in the data series. You can then drill on the entire series buy clicking on the series label, or you can drill on a consolidation by clicking on a single bar / column / line.
5. Waterfall chart based on single data series
A new waterfall chart type is now available in 2.5 which allows creating a waterfall chart based on comparison of elements from a single data series (compared to the existing waterfall chart that required 2 data series for the setup).
Simple use case could be presenting a net income statement using the new waterfall chart.
The chart also comes with a few advanced useful options :
- provide the last column as total / calculate the total based on the provided data (example 2)
- override the colors for the Up and Down colors (from red to pink for example)
- provide a weight to show positive value as negative and vice versa
6. Table Variance widget improvements
A few major features has been added to the table variance widget.
- The first column (which is actually used as the reference for the other columns) is now showing the original values (instead of a variance chart on past versions)
- Ability to toggle between chart presentation and table presentation to the original values for the other columns with the 'Show Original' button
- Ability to drill up and down on the row dimension
7. Change Password
When using security mode 1, each user can now reset his own password directly from the UX.
The password will be changed for each one of the TM1 instances the user is currently connected to , including the content store.
8. Tool-tip on global filter / row elements
Both the Row headers on each table (views & grid widgets), and each FilterBar drop-down, now support HTML binding.
A use case for this is the create an an attribute on the desired the dimensions, the tool-tip tag before or after the description, with or without an icon. The tooltip will be available immediately for all users.
Tip: when setting a tooltip values both on a global filter / row element - you can use the search elements by their tooltip value as well as the displayed caption.
9. HTML Snippets (Stored in the content store)
You always had a way to integrate custom HTML code and leverage the canvas directives in apliqo UX, but that required editing and creating code files on the server.
In 2.5, you can now create custom HTML content directly from the application, including the option and flexibility to create a full file directory tree.
The file structure and the code will be stored directly in the content store allowing easier migrations between environments.
Note: You can access all the canvas directives documentation from the user menu and see examples of all the available options.
10. Date picker new options
When working with the date-picker cell type, you can now benefit for a very help full options :
- Set a default date per view for the user selection ( in this example 8th of Jan 2019)
- Define how many months to display for selection
- Display the work week number
